UPDATE: Man charged after reported stabbing on Portland

A man has been charged in connection with a report of an assault on Portland.

At 12.51pm on Monday 5 August 2024, Dorset Police received a report that a local man aged in his 40s had sustained suspected stab wounds following an assault in Chiswell.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not life-threatening. He has since been discharged.

Following enquiries, a 53-year-old man from Portland was arrested and he has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 7 August 2024.

It is believed that the victim and the man who was charged are known to each other.
