Many world-championship gig clubs will be attending the 2024 Weymouth Pilot Gig Regatta which takes place over the weekend.
Spectators can enjoy the elite-level gig racing between 10am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, with organisers saying that the best view of the event is from the Nothe Gardens.
Saturday’s racing will see the final round of the National Summer Series, where the multiple World Champions Caradon and Falmouth Gig Clubs will race alongside other crews from the South West of England.
Both of the Weymouth men’s and women’s crews will be rowing the gig Isolde. They are hoping for a top-10 finish overall after attending all other rounds of the Series in Devon and Cornwall.
