Appeal for tablets

Read Easy South Dorset are appealing for redundant tablets that you would be prepared to donate to a worthwhile cause. If they can be wiped clean then RESD could put them to very good use.

RESD offers free, one-to-one help to anyone aged 18 or over who struggles with reading. They may not be able to read at all, or find it very difficult. Standard course books approved by the national Read Easy charity are used in the twice-weekly, half-hour sessions.

RESD co-ordinator Christine Voce said, “We would like to be able to supplement them by downloading material to help with reading, available on the internet, for example from the BBC.

“There is also an online reading scheme called Anspear, which uses slightly different techniques to our course, and which could add some variety to the coaching sessions.

“People could also practise navigating the internet, following on-screen instructions, filling in forms, and so on – all the skills that are vital in this modern world.”

Read Easy South Dorset is appealing to businesses, and individuals, who have tablets they no longer need or use, to contact Della, RESD team leader, on 07984 413145.

If you know someone who could benefit from Read Easy’s help, please encourage them to call Irene on 07490 757756.
