A firework display in Portland Harbour late yesterday evening around 10 pm, that is thought to be linked with Netflix filming on a super yacht that was seen in Weymouth Bay recently, has drawn mixed emotions.
The loud explosions were heard all over Weymouth, and although it was advertised and a warning had been issued by Portland Port, many locals were left uninformed, and some were very unhappy with the situation.
Some residents took to social media to express their disapproval with comments such as:
“We have a dog that is going mental. I think they were well out of order to do that. I actually thought we were under attack it was so loud, not like normal fireworks.”
“It looked great from ours, but b***** loud and too late. We didn’t know anything about them either and we are always on social media so it wasn’t well advertised.”
“What’s with all fireworks tonight? Is there any chance that I can sleep tonight? Is there a chance that my traumatised cats will ever come home again.”
However, other local residents have praised the display as being “brilliant” and “a fantastic place to have them in the harbour” whilst also pointing out that it was advertised on social media and local news outlets so wasn’t really a surprise.
It is rumoured that it will be happening all over again this evening, 4th October.
