Weekend Sports Preview

Following their FA Cup exploits, it’s back to National League South competition this weekend for the Weymouth Senior Men’s team, who travel to the Queen Elizabeth Stadium on Saturday to meet Enfield Town.

Dorchester Senior Men’s team are back in action after their enforced sabbatical and visit Tiverton Town for an FA Trophy third-qualifying round tie.

Bridport host visitors Middlezoy Rovers at St. Mary’s Fields in a Southwest Peninsular League East fixture and Portland United entertain Bournemouth at Grove Corner for a Wessex Premier League game.

Portland United striker Greg Borthwick is on fire at the moment and added 2 more goals to his tally on Tuesday evening against Wincanton.

On Sunday, Weymouth Football Club’s women’s team play Bideford at the Bob Lucas Stadium, and Bridport Ladies visit Wincanton, with both games kicking off at 2 00 pm.

Back to Saturday and Weymouth & Portland lock horns with local rivals Puddletown at Monmouth Avenue in the local Tribute rugby Dorset & Wilts league.

So far this season, Puddletown beat Bridport by 45 points to nil at Greenfields, and the Seahorses won at home against Bridport by 38 points to 3, so this encounter could go either direction. Then after the game its back into the clubhouse to enjoy the Seahorses’  October Fest.
