Now 10 arrests made in connection with thefts from vehicles in Dorchester

Neighbourhood policing officers have made three further arrests following multiple reports of thefts from vehicles in Dorchester.

Officers are continuing to investigate a number of reported offences of theft from vehicles or attempted theft from vehicles in Dorchester and the surrounding area since the start of September.

Following enquiries from Dorchester Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) officers a 31-year-old man from Yeovil in Somerset and a 36-year-old man from Dorchester were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, theft from a motor vehicle and fraud offences. A 37-year-old woman from Dorchester was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and fraud offences.

This now brings the total number of arrests made in connection with these reports to ten.

Police Constable Glen Caddy, of the Dorchester Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), said: “We are continuing to investigate all of these matters and we want reassure local residents that we are taking appropriate action and all proportionate lines of enquiry are being covered.

“I would continue to urge vehicle owners to remain vigilant and report anyone seen acting suspiciously around vehicles to contact us immediately.

“We also strongly advise people to never leave valuables in their vehicles and ensure they are locked securely at all times.
