Weekend Sports Report

Listen to a daily sports bulletin on the KeeP 106 breakfast show from 8:30 am Monday to Friday.

Weymouth Football Club’s manager Warren Feeney must have been hoping his players could repeat last week’s performance when they beat Welling by 5 goals to 1 at the Bob Lucas Stadium this time away against Chesham, but it was not to be, and the Terras went down by 3 goals to 1.

Our Man at the Match said: “The first half was pretty even although Weymouth trailed 2 –1 at the break, however after the interval, Chesham took control, and a mistake in the Terras defence let the Generals in to score their third, and by then it was all but over for Weymouth”.

Brooklyn Genesini netted the Terras’ only goal.

Dorchester continued their Southern Premier League promotion drive with an impressive display at the Avenue Stadium, beating Swindon Supermarine by 4 goals to 1.

Marcus Daws netted twice for the Magpies, with Olaf Koszela and Corby Moore adding a goal each to send the Magpies fans home ecstatic.

Portland United’s match away against Baffins Milton Rovers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, but Bridport beat their Devonshire guests Torridgeside at St. Mary’s Field 4 – 2.

George Calverley, Riley Weedon, Joe Charles and James Cox shared the Bees goals one apiece.

Other Football Results.

Donhead United 0 vs Bridport Development 3, Wimborne Town Reserves 4 vs Bridport Reserves 2.

Two Results from Sunday: Weymouth Women 1 vs Feniton 0, Annie Redding scoring the Terras’s goal, and Ridgeway Ladies 0 vs Dorchester Ladies 2, Lucy Polley scoring both of the Magpies goals.

In the Tribute League, Ruby Dorchester lost at home against Frome 25 points to 10, but Weymouth & Portland overcame the challenge of East Dorset Dockers beating their visitors by 31 points to 15, but it must be said that it was not until the final 15 minutes of the second half that the Seahorses drew clear of their guests running in 3 late tries up until then the result could have gone in either direction.

Kicking off earlier at Monmouth Avenue, the Weymouth & Portland’s women’s team, the Shehorses, won a nail-biter clinching victory with the very last move of the game and running out winners by 32 points to 29.
