Detectives investigating a report that two people were assaulted in Weymouth are issuing an update.
Dorset Police received a report at around 1am on Saturday 15 February 2025 of a disturbance in St Edmund Street involving a group of people.
An 18-year-old man was reportedly assaulted and sustained a fractured skull. Another 18-year-old man also sustained facial injuries but did not require immediate medical treatment.
Following enquiries, a 14-year-old boy from Weymouth and a 17-year-old boy from Ferndown have been charged with wounding with intent, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. The 17-year-old boy appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 21 February 2025 and the 14-year-old boy is due to appear at the same court on Tuesday 11 March 2025.
A 21-year-old man from Weymouth and a 17-year-old boy from Christchurch arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent remain on police bail while enquiries continue.
An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy who were previously arrested have been released without charge and will face no further police action.
