The Dorset & Wilts Senior Men’s Rugby team are just one game away from the Bill Beaumont County Championship Final at Twickenham, but on Saturday, they must overcome the challenge of Hertfordshire on Chippenham’s all-weather pitch.
So far, the Twin Counties have played 3 pool games and have won all 3, but so have Hertfordshire, who also hold a 100 per cent record, beating Buckinghamshire, Middlesex, and Essex on route to the semifinals, so they will be no pushover. Home venue could be an advantage. But the outcome of this contest is challenging to predict.
Weymouth & Portland’s James Newsam, who was unavailable last week, is back in the squad, but not in the starting lineup. His clubmate Reece Makin retains his place on the left wing following his brace of tries against Surrey.
On Sunday, the Twin Counties Women play away against Leicestershire Women at Coalville Rugby Club.
There has been an exodus of players from Dorchester Football Club this week, out go both striker Shaquille Gwengwe and captain Jordan Nagalo, but the Magpies have acquired the signature of striker Joe Parker, who turned out for Tiverton last season, scoring 21 goals from 58 appearances.
Weymouth Football Club announce the signing of striker Tom Hewlett and Callum Smalley.
Tom signed for the Terras after his time with Poole Town, having previously played for Burton Albion.
Callum is a six-foot-two-inch goalkeeper who has previously turned out for the Terrras’ Youth Team, Bristol City Academy and Bridport.
One player on the way out of Weymouth is Josh McQuoid, who has spent 6 seasons at the Bob Lucas Stadium. He has signed on for Wimborne.
