Weekend Sports Report

Dorchester Football Club have announced the signing of midfielder Tom Smith.

The club’s press release states that the 27-year-old joins the club after spending last season at Taunton Town and, before that, Bath City, where he racked up 260 appearances and scored 50 goals over seven years.

Smith was named the National League South player of the season in 2019/20, and Magpies manager Tommy Killick was delighted to finalise a deal for the highly regarded midfielder.

Killick said, “I’m so excited to bring Tom to the club. He is a player I have admired for many years, and signing him is a tremendous coup for the club.

“It goes without saying that the better you become, the harder it is to sign players that will improve you, but I’m confident in Tom; we have a player that will really push us on, and the supporters will love seeing him play.”

Dorchester will now welcome Exmouth Town to the Avenue Stadium on Saturday, August the second for a preseason game.
