Once again, it was mixed fortunes for our local Non-League Football Clubs this weekend.
Bridport fought out a 13-goal Southwest Peninsular League East thriller away against Bovey Tracey, eventually winning the match by 7 goals to 6.
Fred Parsons netted a hat trick for the Bees, with Solomon Ayunga scoring twice and Harley Brook and Riley Weedon both adding a goal each.
In the Southern Premier League, Dorchester travelled to Gosport and returned to the Avenue Stadium with a point following the two goals apiece scoreline.
Both of the Magpies’ scores came from striker Wayne Robinson.
In the same division, Weymouth were on the road at Uxbridge; however, the Terras travelled back to Dorset on the wrong end of a five-one result, Weymouth’s only goal scored by Tom Bearwish.
Our Man at the Match said, “Weymouth had a stand-in goalkeeper on loan from Torquay who didn’t exactly inspire confidence, but it wasn’t all his fault. This was a poor result playing against a team that was only a couple of places above the Terras in the league table”.
In the Wessex Premier Division, Portland United crossed the Solent to play East Cowes Victoria with a goal from Josh Williams enough for the Blues to snatch all three league points, with the game ending ECV nil, Portland United one.
