Idris Martin reporting.
Operations are underway in Portland Marina to salvage the yacht that was deliberately sunk by the Fire Brigade after in caught fire two weeks ago.
With Liquid Petroleum Gas canisters on board it was decided that the best course of action to take was to fill it with water preventing an explosion that could have caused massive damage to the surrounding area.
A major emergency response saw firefighters, police officers and members of Weymouth’s RNLI Lifeboat Station attend a fire that engulfed several yachts in Portland Marina on Sunday 10th May.
The inferno took hold of a yacht in late afternoon before spreading to nearby vessels.
The fire quickly spread to a neighbouring boat, but due to the excellent work by the fire crew the fire was extinguished by early evening.
