Pop-up Pride Dorchester is back for its second year with a fabulous and packed programme.
The initiative, driven by Dorchester Town Council with the support of local partners, brings together events happening throughout Pride month in June – hosted by a range of local businesses and organisations across the town.
It’s an opportunity to celebrate inclusion, respect and togetherness in our community.
Events include talks, films, music activities, a drag act, poetry, craft, an art exhibition, writing workshops, a walk and more! There’s even a couple of great trails to participate in. It really is a jam-packed programme. You can check out the full range of activities on the Discover Dorchester website, or on Facebook or Instagram by searching for Pop-Up Pride Dorchester.
This year the organisers have offered free posters saying ‘Everyone Welcome’ to any local businesses that would like to put them up in June (and beyond!) so keep an eye out for those around the town. Some shops have also been given pride Packs containing bunting, flags and more, so we are anticipating a very colourful and community minded June!
Emma Scott, Community Development Officer at Dorchester Town Council said “we’re thrilled by how many partners have come together to create the Pop-Up Pride Dorchester programme this year. Most of the events are free to attend, or low cost meaning they are also financially inclusive. Celebrating Pride month is something that everyone can take part in, to show our solidarity and support for our LGBT+ community.
At Dorchester Town Council, we are proud to champion inclusion and celebrate the diversity of our community, businesses and visitors. Everyone is welcome in Dorchester”.
