FA Cup Review:
Two of our local senior Non-League Football Clubs went into the weekend with dreams of going into Monday’s draw for the next round, but only one will progress further in the competition.
Dorchester were eliminated, beaten by 2 goals to nil at the Avenue Stadium by Oxford City, but Weymouth progresses with a 3 – 1 victory away against Swindon Supermarine and getting one over their former manager, Bobby Wilkinson.
Weymouth’s hero was striker Tor Swann, who netted all 3 of the Terras’ goals.
League Review:
At Grove Corner, Portland United trailed 1 nil at half-time against Larkhall Athletic, but came out after the break with all guns blazing and tallied up 4 unanswered goals to secure all 3 Southern League Division 1 points making the final score Portland 4 vs Larkhall 1.
Two of the Blues’ goals coming courtasy Jacob Coombs, with one each scored by Pat Jenkins and Greg Borthwick.
In the Southwest Peninsular League East, the students from The University of Exeter travelled back to Devon on the back of a 2 – 1 win at St. Marys’ over their hosts Bridport, with Fred Parsons netting the Bees’ only goal.
