Update – investigation into death of woman in Wareham

A man arrested in connection with the death of a woman in Wareham has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

At 2.59pm on Wednesday 29 May 2019 Dorset Police received a report from the ambulance service of the unexpected death of a woman aged in her 50s at an address in West Walls. Her family has been informed and is being supported by specially-trained officers.

An investigation has been launched into the death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.

A 23-year-old man from Wareham arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The victim and arrested man were known to each other.

Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of Dorset Police, said: “I am still appealing for anyone who may have information about this incident, or who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the West Walls area on Tuesday 28 May or Wednesday 29 May 2019, to come forward.

“There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area as this investigation continues. Local officers can be approached by members of the community with any concerns.”
