Larmer Tree Festival Announces Family Headliner Andy And The Odd Socks

For 28 incredible years, Larmer Tree Festival has been throwing the ultimate family-friendly summer party in the heart of the Wiltshire/Dorset countryside, hosting an eclectic line-up of music, comedy, theatre, arts and crafts workshops, and much more. This year will be no different.

Children’s BBC star Andy Day (Andy’s Wild Adventures, among other well-loved TV shows) brings the best band in the world (according to many of the nation’s mums) to The Larmer Tree Festival’s Main Stage. Andy and the Odd Socks will be delivering smash hits such as Aliens, Battle Robot Rapper, Dinosaur Football Legend Mega Match and Groovy Hoover in truly chaotic and colourful fashion. Also bringing the belly laughs is The Comedy Club for Kids, while How Does This Politics Thing Work Then? will be adding much-needed levity to recent political goings-on.

Kate Adie in conversation with Richard Osgood will be headlining this year’s Theatre, Poetry & Talks programme. Considered to be among the most reliable and courageous reporters as well as one of the first British women to send dispatches from danger zones around the world, Kate was BBC chief news correspondent from 1989-2003. In this candid talk, Kate and Richard will discuss her life and work, cultures and war zones and will explore the changing perceptions of women in the media.

BBC Radio 4’s thought-provoking show, Four Thought, will be recording at this year’s festival, with exciting speakers invited to provide answers to some of the biggest questions facing society today. The show will be broadcast on Radio 4, while the Q&A following the talks will be included in the podcast. Stay tuned for guest speakers.

Also announced today are the extensive workshops on offer at this year’s Festival, which will include experiences as diverse as aerial yoga, bird-ringing, knicker-making and a hula disco, as well as insightful sessions with Salisbury Museum and the Jurassic Coast Trust.

Taking place under the huge skies of the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from 18-21 July, the 29th edition of Larmer Tree Festival has already announced an enviable line-up for 2019, with headliners Kate Tempest, The Cat Empire, Jack Savoretti and The Shires joined by an eclectic array of vital artists including Gomez, KT Tunstall, Let’s Eat Grandma and GoGo Penguin.

If you want to watch hidden musical gems alongside big names, recharge your batteries with holistic therapies, immerse yourself in classic cinema and nourish your soul with the best in international street food – and all in the most beautiful festival site in the UK – then the Larmer Tree Festival is the one.
