Man airlifted to hospital following series collision

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a serious injury collision near Winterborne Kingston.

At 12.47pm today, Monday 6 May 2019, a serious injury collision occurred on an unclassified road between the A31 and the A354, one mile north of Winterborne Kingston.

A 61-year-old local man riding a quad bike was travelling toward Blandford when he came off the vehicle and landed in the road.

He sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for emergency treatment. His next of kin has been informed.

The road remains closed while collision investigators examine the scene.

Sergeant Lee Savage, of the traffic unit, said: “An investigation is underway in a bid to establish the circumstances of this collision. I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to please contact Dorset Police.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who was travelling along the road at the relevant time and has dashcam footage as this may be very useful for my investigation.”
