A man’s body has been found on a Dorset beach.
It’s believed to be connected to the disappearance of a man who was swept away by a wave near Freshwater Beach Holiday park.
Dorset police were called at 2.55pm on Sunday over concerns for a man in the water. The man, aged in his 20s, was walking along the beach with a woman when they were both swept out to sea. The woman managed to make it back to shore and was treated by paramedics.
The coastguard, RNLI, police officers, a helicopter and the ambulance service all joined the search but sadly a body was found on Hive beach this morning (Monday).
The body has not been formally identified but police believe it is the man who went missing.
His family has been informed and the coroner has been identified.
Meanwhile a woman has also died after a tree fell on her car in strong winds. Police say the woman in her 60s was driving near Wimborne yesterday. Emergency services were called on Saturday morning to reports of a collision involving the woman’s car and a tree on Verwood Road.
It comes as Dorset was hit with blustery and wet weather over the weekend which caused a number of disruptions to public transport services.
