As part of the government’s distribution of funds to charities, Diverse Abilities’ Coping with CHAOS service has received a grant of more than £22,000.
The funds will aid six months of operating costs, which helps to provide play opportunities for children with special education needs, as well as those with profound physical and learning disabilities.
Funding from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, helps the charity to fund staff costs, building costs, and the costs associated with putting on its activities.
Clare Rochford, Children’s Team manager, commented: “We are so thankful to the government and The National Lottery Community Fund for this grant as it is vital for us to continue providing services to families across the county.
“We were worried about what level of effect the pandemic may have on our services. Our team worked really hard to ensure we were able to deliver socially distanced play sessions across the summer holidays and we are confident we can continue this as long as the guidelines permit us to do so going forwards.”
