A GIG to raise money for the RNLI was held in memory of Bruce Smith who was 36 when he died in a tragic accident in 2017.
His friends have been holding ‘Brucefest’ fundraisers each year as a way to give something back to RNLI lifeboat crews.
Bruce had been jumping into the sea at Portland Bill when he injured himself. He was pulled from the water but sadly died in hospital. Bruce was a keen diver and had been presented with a Royal Humane Society Award aged 19 after he saved someone from drowning in Weymouth Harbour. He was also a big music fan and played bass guitar in a local band.
The event took place in December 2019 at the Lazy Lizard nightclub in Weymouth, added to other fund raising by selling T-shirts throughout this year gave a total raised to £633 for the Weymouth RNLI lifeboat station.
