Witness appeal following fire on Portland

Detectives investigating a suspicious fire on Portland are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report at around 6.25pm on Friday 8 January 2021 of a fire in a garage in Ladymead Close.

Officers attended with the fire service. There were no reports of any injuries.

Detective Sergeant George Graham, of Weymouth CID, said: “An investigation is underway to establish the cause of the fire, which is believed to have been started deliberately.

“Local officers have been carrying out a number of enquiries in the area, including house-to-house visits and CCTV trawls of the area.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or has information to assist my enquiries to please get in touch.”
