Update – man arrested in connection with reported assault in Weymouth

A man has been arrested in connection with an investigation into an alleged assault in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 2.30am on Monday 31 May 2021 from the ambulance service of a stabbing on Westhill Road near to the junction with Pirates Lane.

It was reported that the victim – a man aged in his 40s – was assaulted by a group of men. He sustained stab wounds that required surgery and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since left hospital.

Following enquiries by detectives from Weymouth CID, a 28-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and he has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information in relation to the incident to come forward.
