People in Dorset urged to have second jabs at eight weeks

People in Dorset are being urged to bring forward their second life-saving COVID-19 vaccination to eight weeks to protect themselves and others.

They can either attend a walk-in clinic or rebook their appointment at one of the many vaccine clinics being held across Dorset.

All adults are now eligible to have the second dose of their COVID-19 vaccination eight weeks after the first.

Sam Crowe, Director of Public Health for Dorset Council and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council, said: “Thanks to local people getting their jabs, we currently have far fewer people in hospital with COVID-19 than at points in previous waves when we were seeing similar case rates.

This shows that the vaccination programme is having a significant impact, and I urge anyone who hasn’t yet had their jabs to book their appointments now or attend one of our local walk-in clinics. With COVID-19 circulating in our communities, getting both doses of the vaccine is the best way you can protect yourself from serious illness caused by the virus.”

Information about the latest walk-in clinics are being updated on the NHS Dorset CCG website regularly, so keep checking here: Walk in vaccination clinics – NHS Dorset CCG

Booked appointments can also be made for vaccine clinics across Dorset at venues such as community pharmacies and the large vaccination centre in Bournemouth (BIC) through the National Booking Service or by calling 119. If you attend a walk-in session and have a booked appointment for a second dose, please remember to cancel it so it can be given to someone else.
