Fundraising Sponsored Swim for MV Freedom

Friends Of MV Freedom are holding a sponsored swim this coming Saturday 21st August from 5pm to 7pm in Newtons Cove, Weymouth.

The friends are inviting swimmers of all abilities to obtain sponsorship and raise much needed funds to support the work of MV Freedom bringing access to the sea for those living with disabilities.

More information is available from the MV Freedom website at www.mvfreedom.co.uk or from their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MV-Freedom-602838453075968 , where a sponsorship form can also be printed.

Fundraisers Sheila Collins and Meridy Phillips told KeeP 106: “we hope the 2021 sponsored swim will be as successful as the last sponsored swim we did when all sorts of local people came along on a lovely day to support us. You don’t have to be an expert swimmer and it doesn’t matter if you can’t swim the full course. The MV Freedom team will make sure everyone is welcome and we have lots of safety cover on the water to keep people safe. We hope it will be a nice evening and a great way to raise funds towards the income needed to keep MV Freedom afloat. Why not come and give it a go!”

MV Freedom have provided access to the sea for those people living with disability since 1984, and have recently taken delivery of their fourth boat, a twin-engine motor catamaran which provides sea trips along the Jurassic Coast, Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay.
