Free entry to Dorset Museum celebrating Heritage Open Days

Heritage Open Days, England’s largest festival of history and culture, will return this year from the 10th to the 19th September 2021.

To celebrate entry to Dorset Museum is going to be completely free for one day only on the 12th of September 2021, giving visitors the chance to talk to staff, see our newly reimagined galleries, and interactive displays.

Visitors will have the first opportunity to join our curators to explore behind the scenes of the new state of the art Collections Discovery Centre, where they will be able to find out more about the work going on to move our collections back to the Museum site following our recent redevelopment project.

Participants on the tour will also have the opportunity to explore some objects up close in our Conservation Studio, relating to this year’s Heritage Open Days theme of ‘Edible England’.

Tours are limited and booking online is strongly recommended due to the expected demand.

Continuing the theme of ‘Edible England’ 0n 15th & 16th Septe, ber, Dorest Food and Drink will host a Pop-up mini-market in the Victorian Hall with a variety of stalls selling local produce and products.
