Dorset Council are planning to make improvements to bus services and has submitted its Bus Service Improvement Plan and bid for Government’s Bus Back Better £3 billion fund. The plan requires around £92m of funding over an initial three-year period to deliver the council’s ambitious vision to transform bus services across Dorset.
The next step is to create an Enhanced Partnership – a legally binding agreement between the council and local bus operators to work together to improve local bus services – by the end of March 2022.
Cycleway repairs scheduled
To support active travel in the Weymouth area, Dorset Council has got a programme of cycleway repairs scheduled.
Routes include sections near the rugby club, Radipole Park Drive and Preston Beach Road – with closures needed to carry out the work safely.
In addition to the repairs, a 400m circular section of the Weymouth Park and Ride overflow site will have drainage improved and be given a fresh surface to create an informal running track.
