New Weldmar Sahara Trek dates added due to popular demand

In July 2021, Weldmar Hospicecare announced that their overseas challenge would be to the Sahara Desert in November 2022. The response to the trek has been phenomenal, and Weldmar have now reached maximum numbers.

Keen to not disappoint those that just missed out on a place on the November 2022 challenge, or those that we’re considering signing up, Weldmar have decided to run the Sahara Desert trek again in March 2023.

Alaine Harman from Weldmar’s fundraising team has been blown away by the reaction to the Sahara Desert trek in 2022. “I’m so pleased that we have thirty eager trekkers to take on this amazing challenge in November, but we didn’t want to disappoint anyone still keen to take part. By adding another date in March 2023 we’re giving people another opportunity to take on the challenge of a lifetime.”

Alaine adds “We’ll be trekking through beautiful scenery by day and sleeping under the stars at night. We’ll even be baking bread in the hot sand, and immersing ourselves in the local culture. There’s plenty of support and team building before we go.”

Participants will join local Berbers and camels for the four-day trek, and there will be a chance to explore the city of Marrakech before heading home.

A minimum of £1,500 needs to be raised for Weldmar Hospicecare to take part, and there is a £340 registration fee for the trek, which departs on 16th March, 2023. More information and details of how to sign up are at weld-hospice.org.uk.
