Assault in Weymouth – appeal for information

Officers investigating an assault in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported that at around 3.50pm on Sunday 6 March 2022 the victim, a man aged in his 40s, was leaving Boots in St Thomas Street when he saw a man who was known to him sitting on the bench opposite. Words were exchanged and the other man is reported to have approached the victim and swing his arms toward him while holding what appeared to be a red Stanley knife in his hand.

The man reportedly made light contact with the victim, causing tears to his clothing, but the victim did not sustain any injuries.

Police Constable Sam Hill, of Weymouth police, said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries into this incident and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the relevant time and witnessed what happened to please get in touch.

“I would like to hear from anyone with information that might assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/do-it-online, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55220036691.
