Serious injuries sustained following collision in Weymouth

Officers investigating a collision involving two cars in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam to come forward.

At 11.41am on Sunday 14 August 2022 Dorset Police was called to reports of a two-vehicle collision on Newstead Road, near to the Asda store, involving a red Toyota Yaris and a black Vauxhall Zafira. The ambulance and fire services also attended.

The driver of the Yaris, a man aged in his 30s, sustained serious back injuries and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not described as life-threatening injuries.

Police Constable Jamie Ralphs, of Dorset Police, said: “An investigation into this collision is ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or captured it on dashcam, to please contact Dorset Police.

“The driver sustained serious injuries in this collision, and I would like to thank motorists and residents for their patience and understanding while we closed the road to allow emergency services to treat the injured driver and for collision investigators to examine the scene.”
