It’s beginning to look very bleak for Weymouth Football Club to retain their National League South status the Terras hosted Eastbourne Borough at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday and our man at the game said that despite creating numerous chances particularly after the break they failed to convert any into goals and conceded once in the 36th minute losing the game 1 nil.
With only 6 league matches remaining the clock is ticking for Weymouth to put a run of victories together or it’s Southern League Football for the Terras next season.
In the Southern League Dorchester’s recent loan signing Lewis Waterfield salvaged a point for the Magpies at Salisbury with a 90th minute equaliser. Dorchester took the lead on the half hour through Shaq Gwengwe then conceded twice before Waterfield struck to snatch a point for the Magpies.
Portland United’s Wessex League match at Pagham was postponed following an early pitch inspection that deemed it unfit to play following a downpour.
Bridport’s match at Holsworthy was also called off, it will now be played on Monday the 24th of April kick off 7 30pm.
On Sunday at the Bob Lucas Stadium Weymouth women drew 1 goal each with Pucklechurch women Zara Hunt getting the Terras goal.
In the local rugby for the second week in succession Weymouth & Portland travelled into Wiltshire, this time to play Warminster in the first round of the Pappa John’s Community Cup and lost out by 27 points to 24, in the same competition Dorchester’s game at Wiveliscombe was postponed and Blandford went down by 19 points to 22 at home against Falmouth.
