The popular Anonymous Festival returns this bank holiday Monday 28 Aug to Borough Gardens in Dorchester. This family friendly event, now in its 13th year, is literally bursting to the seams with activities for all ages, from craft and clay to bouncy castles and bungee trampolines. And not only is the event free to attend, but there is absolutely no charge for any of the activities either! You will have the opportunity to test your staying power with an inflatable rodeo, get a henna tattoo, try your hand at screen printing, get a glitter tattoo or have your photo taken in a vintage horsebox. You will even have the chance to do a masterclass in how to create a special effect wound! And to top it all there will be musical entertainment taking place throughout day by way of 2 stages which will feature some of our most talented young performers, as well as the locally loved Vinyl Van who will be spinning discs in the chill out corner.
Headlining this year is Dorchester’s home grown Isaiah Dreads who at 25 years of age is already an acclaimed MC and rapper. Isaiah has performed at many festivals across the UK including Glastonbury, Wireless, Bestival, Lovebox & the Isle of Wight Festival, and through Spotify has racked up over 12 million streams for his music, having just released his brilliant debut self-produced mixtape ‘Zephyr’.
There will be a range of affordable, delicious food on offer, including burgers, sausages and chips, Mexican tortillas & chilli, mouth-watering freshly cooked Thai dishes, authentic falafels, and delicious curries. For the sweet of tooth there will also be popcorn, candy floss and ice-cream, and the park kiosk will be open for light snacks and drinks.
Feel free to bring your own blanket or deckchair and make a day of it.
Event organiser, Emma Scott from Dorchester Town Council says ““A special shout out must go out to the funders and supporters of the event including Dorchester Town Council, Dorset Council, Magna Housing, and Sams Scaffolding – who are providing the staging this year. Plus thanks to our partners Antix Music, Keep 106 Radio and the Vinyl Van. We’re really pleased to have raised the money so that we can offer all the activities for free and support our local families and community”.
