Countryside Matters 18.03.24

Today we will hear from Brian Bleese, CEO of the Dorset Wildlife Trust, about an exciting new acquisition of a 335  hectare farm, Lyscombe, ten miles to the north-east of Dorchester: a farm that will now be managed for nature recovery which will help not just the wildlife on the farm to flourish and increase, but also help to reduce harmful nutrients making their way into Poole Harbour. Plus much of the programme is about swifts as we hear from a well-known naturalist and author, the manager of the Birds of Poole Harbour charity, someone who has made 82,000 bird boxes and the Sherborne Abbey Tower Captain who has made bird boxes installed in the bell tower.
