Man assaulted in Dorchester’s Kings Road playing field

Police officers investigating an assault in Dorchester are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Between 10.15am and 10.30am on Sunday 2 June 2024 a man – aged in his 30s – was in the park at Kings Road when an unknown man approached him.

It is reported that the man was assaulted with a hockey stick, causing an injury to his leg that did not require hospital treatment.

The suspect then threw the victim’s phone into nearby bushes. He is described as white, approximately 40 years old with short brown hair, a short brown beard and was wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

Police Constable Glen Caddy, of Dorchester Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “It is believed there may have been other people in the park at the time and I would ask anyone who saw what happened to please get in touch.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have information to help us identify the offender.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240082311. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
