Update in relation to reported assaults in Weymouth

Detectives investigating reported assaults on two men in Weymouth have made three arrests and are issuing an image of a man they are looking to identify.

It was reported that at around 4am on Sunday 27 October 2024 two men aged in their 20s were involved in an altercation with a group of up to eight people in Westham Road.

One of the victims sustained a fractured jaw and the other man sustained a cut lip, laceration on his ear and swelling to his forehead.

Following enquiries and a previous CCTV appeal, three 19-year-old men from the local area have been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They have been released under investigation as further enquiries are carried out.

Detective Constable Megan Matthews, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this matter and I am issuing a CCTV image of a man we are still looking to identify in connection with the incident.

“I would ask anyone with information regarding his identity to please come forward.”

Anybody with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting 55240165443. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling freephone 0800 555 111.
