Further update in relation to reported assaults in Weymouth

Detectives have made a fifth arrest as they investigate reported assaults on two men in Weymouth and are issuing an image of a further individual they are looking to identify.

It was reported that at around 4am on Sunday 27 October 2024 two men aged in their 20s were involved in an altercation with a group of up to eight people in Westham Road.

One of the victims sustained a fractured jaw and the other sustained a cut lip, laceration on his ear and swelling to his forehead.

Following previous appeals, four 19-year-old local men were arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They have all been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

A 20-year-old Weymouth man has also now been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He too has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Megan Matthews, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this matter and we have now obtained a CCTV image of a further man we would like to identify as part of our enquiries.

“I appreciate his face is covered but we are hoping someone may be able to recognise him from his general build and clothing.

“We would ask anyone with information regarding his identity to please make contact with us.”
