Weekend Sports Preview

Dorchester Football Club’s Senior men’s team travel to play Hungerford Town on Saturday. If the Magpies are to retain their 5th place in the Southern Premier League table and guarantee their inclusion in the league play-offs, only a win will do.

The Magpies have 72 points from 41 outings, while chasing Havant & Waterlooville, who play Wimborne at home, have 71 points from 41 matches and a better points difference of + 33, while Dorchester have a differential of +26.

There are other permutations if matches are drawn, but if Dorchester win, they will progress into the promotion play-offs.

Tom Killick

Dorchester manager Tom Killick takes his team to Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday.

Already relegated from the National League South, Weymouth hosts Chelmsford at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Portland United’s Wessex Premier League campaign ended last Saturday with the Blues finishing in 17th place with 33 points from 38 matches, while Bridport finished a creditable 3rd place in the Southwest Peninsula League East.

Bridport Development entertain AFC Damerham.

On Sunday, the Dorset and Wilts Under 20 rugby squad play their opening fixture in this season’s Jason Leonard County Under 20 Championship at Salisbury RFC, kicking off at 2:00pm.

Dorchester Rugby Club’s Flynn Drummond and clubmate Dylan Walters are both in the starting XV.

Other Rugby Fixtures on Saturday.
