Vehicle and tools stolen in Dorchester – police appeal for information

Officers investigating the thefts of a vehicle and tools in Dorchester are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported that at around 4.20pm on Sunday 4 May 2025 a Citroen Cactus was stolen from an address in Baynard’s Road.

In the days that followed, the vehicle was subsequently captured on CCTV in connection with reports of various tools in the same road, including a cement mixer.

Following enquiries, and assistance from members of the public, the stolen Citroen was located in the Crossways area on Monday 12 May 2025 and recovered.

Officers also located a Volkswagen Transporter van, which had been reported as stolen from the East Sussex area. The vehicle was also linked to the tool thefts in Baynard’s Road.

Police Constable James Harper, of Dorchester police, said: “We are carrying out a detailed investigation into these incidents and I would urge anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to please contact us.

“We would also urge members of the public in the area to please check any garages, driveways and outbuildings for any further items which may have been stolen between Sunday 4 May and Monday 12 May 2025.

“Furthermore, I would ask residents to please check any home CCTV or doorbell cameras during this period to see if they have captured relevant footage.

“We are aware of CCTV footage relating to this incident circulating online on social media. This matter is the subject of an active investigation and I would urge anyone with relevant footage not to share it on social media but to report it to police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250067355. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
