We hear first from Campaigns Manager for The Rivers Trust, Emma Brisdion, about the Big River Watch held just a few weeks ago, and what that was all about – and the importance for her of clean, healthy rivers.
Graham Roberts is an ecologist, who lives in the Lyme Regis area, and is concerned about pollution of the local river, the River Lim. He talks about how important the ecology and invertebrates of a river are, and what the particular problems there are that beset the River Lim. He’s a member of the River Lim Action Group.
A fellow member of this group is Vicki Elcoate, currently Chair of the Dorset Climate Action Network. She talks about the recent Zoom event held by Dorset CAN and how it brought together – online! – people from across the county who’re trying to monitor and improve the quality of their local rivers and streams. She also talks more particularly about the action being taken on Lyme Regis’ River Lim.
Finally, last summer I joined three members of the Cerne Abbas Riverflies as they sampled and identified some of the invertebrates found in a short stretch of the Cerne river where it flows through the village…
