Could you help Citizens Advice make a difference to local people most in need?

Citizens Advice Central Dorset are looking for new trustees to join its charity trustee board.

The charity is focussed on providing information and advice for local communities to help solve the problems they face in challenging times.

Citizens Advice Central Dorset covers the central Dorset area of Dorchester, Weymouth and Portland plus Gillingham, Sherborne and Blandford and are supported by volunteers who are at the heart of the communities they serve. It is a local charity with the benefit of being part of the influential national organisation, Citizens Advice. The board of trustees come from a variety of backgrounds who all have the passion and dedication to make a positive difference for people who need help and advice on a wide range of matters in the community.

Current opportunities within the trustee board are:

  • Trustee – with marketing and communications skills and experience
  • Trustee – with financial/business knowledge to support the treasurer
  • Trustee – with legal knowledge and experience

People from all backgrounds with a range of skills and experience are welcomed with training provided.

Trustee roles are voluntary, unpaid appointments, although reasonable travel expenses will be paid. Each role provides the person with a great deal of experience and satisfaction, the opportunity to develop personal skills and use expertise and knowledge.

Becoming a trustee is an exciting opportunity to help lead a service that is in increasing demand and making a real difference to clients and local communities.

Tracy McGregor, one of the current trustees comments that it has been a rewarding role becoming a trustee for Citizens Advice Central Dorset.

Tracy said, “It has enabled me to use my existing skills and experience to help the organisation maintain and develop its services. I’ve really enjoyed working with the other trustees and with the staff and volunteer teams, learning about what is important to them and the people who use our services.”

You can find out more about becoming a trustee for Citizens Advice Central Dorset by visiting their website: centraldorsetca.org.uk/become-a-trustee

If the role of trustee is not for you but you would still like to help in some way, the charity is also seeking volunteers to help provide the service working with clients and other volunteers, particularly in the Dorchester office.
