Dorchester’s Sunflower Trail celebrates its fifth year

Located on Maiden Castle Road in Dorchester, with the backdrop of England’s largest prehistoric hill fort, the Dorset Sunflower Trail will return in August for the fifth time.

Whether capturing Instagram-worthy moments or simply enjoying the beauty of the sunflowers, the organisers say the trail promises an unforgettable experience.

The Dorset Sunflower Trail 2025 is dedicated to the theme “Save a Life” and this year’s event aims to raise awareness and support for life-saving initiatives in collaboration with Dorset County Hospital Charity. Visitors can learn about health programs, participate in well-being activities, and contribute to fundraising efforts for the hospital’s Emergency and Critical Care Appeal. By embracing the theme “Save a Life,” the trail highlights the importance of community involvement in preserving and enhancing lives in Dorset.

Organiser Hazel Hoskin says the 2025 Dorset Sunflower trail is shaping up to be bigger and brighter than ever with highlights including:

  • Art in the Sunflowers
  • Sunflower Stride and Fun Run through the Sunflowers
  • Storytime in the Sunflowers
  • Pilates in the Sunflowers
  • Sundowner Music Nights as the sun sets over the sunflowers and many more……

Visitors will have the opportunity to stroll, photograph, and immerse themselves in the serene beauty that makes this trail such a unique spectacle.

The accessible and family-friendly trail proudly supports local businesses and artisans. Visitors can explore the Sunshine Shack full of Sunflower and Bee themed goodies, including locally crafted goods, candles, jewellery, and textiles.

Delicious locally sourced food is available to purchase, with scenic picnic spots nestled among the sunflowers providing the perfect setting for families and friends to unwind and enjoy the sunny Dorset skies. Bring your basket or grab something delightful from the Café on wheels and relax surrounded by nature’s beauty. Indulge in home-bred pork sausage rolls and cheese straws from a local bakery, along with a selection of cakes and beverages, both hot and cold.

The trail will open in August 2025, when the flowers come to bloom, with tickets going on sale in July 2025.  For updates and more information follow these links: facebook.com/MaidenCastleFarm and website maidencastlefarm.co.uk
