Weekend Sports Report

Weymouth Football Club had a day off this weekend, but Dorchester progressed into the next round of the FA Cup with  3 goals to 1 win in Devon against Brixham.

Luke Pardoe scored twice for the Magpies with Luke Roberts adding a third.

In the Wessex Premier League Portland travelled into Hampshire to play Hythe & Dibden, but their journey was in vain as the hosts won the game by 4 goals to 1, Pat Jenkins scored the Blues’ consolation goal.

If its goals you want, then Bridport are the team to watch.

The Bees put 7 into the back of Teignmouth’s net last week and repeated that feat at St.Marys on Saturday against Oakhampton Argyle.

Sam Fisher scored 2 with a goal each coming from Fred Parsons, Luke King, Sol Ayunga, Isaac House and to add insult to injury an Argyle own goal and the visitors didn’t bother the scoreboard operator.

Tribute Ale Rugby Leagues:

Weymouth & Portland travelled to Coburg Road to lock horns with Dorchester and following last Saturday’s heavy defeat at Bridport no one gave the Seahorses much chance of avoiding another hiding.

However, it was not to be, and it turned into a game very much of 2 halves with Dorchester racing into 29 points to 5 lead at the break and with some spectators forecasting a 50 points margin at full time.

But the Seahorses’ pack took control of the proceedings and most of the second half was played inside the County Town’s territory and in the end Dorchester’s winning margin was whittled down to just 10 points and it would have been even closer if not for a textbook tackle by the Dorchester full back just shy of the goal line when it looked odds on that the Seahorses were going to cross the whitewash again making the final score Dorchester 34 points Weymouth & Portland 24.

Other Tribute Ale Rugby Results:

Swanage & Wareham 55 vs Melksham nil, East Dorset Dockers 29 vs Bridport 21, Puddletown 31 vs Lytchett Minster 71, Wimborne secs. 29 vs Swanage & Wareham secs. 30.
