Dorchester lifted themselves out of the Southern Premier League drop zone with their first league victory this season at the Avenue Stadium with a 2 goals to nil victory against Yate Town.
The Magpies came out of the blocks quickly leaving the visitors looking shell shocked, but Dorchester but failed to drive home their dominance and had to wait until the 46th minute to open their goal account.
A reckless tackle from a Yate defender on Marcus Daws just inside the visitor’s penalty area resulted in a spot kick that Joe Parker slotted to the right of Yate keeper Aaron Sainsbury and into the back of the net.
It was Parker again in the 54th minute who put the Magpies 2 nil up beating the Yate defense then stroking the ball into the goal wide of Sainsbury’s despairing dive.
Dorchester went close again when Tom Smith cut the ball across the visitor’s goal from a very narrow angle and had a penalty shout denied by referee Mark Hickson, but in the end the Magpies were well worth their victory.

Joe Parker celebrates his second goal with the Magpies faithful.
Then same can’t be said of Weymouth who trailed their guests Gloucester City by 3 goals to nil at the beak.
The Terras upped their game in the second half but still couldn’t manage to provide their fans with a goal making the final score Weymouth nil Gloucester City 3.
Our Man at the Match said: “Weymouth improved in the second half and they did manage to get the ball into the City net, but it was ruled out for offside and the Terras were denied a late penalty, but in the end the best team won the game, however there are signs of improvement and I doubt if we will see a better side at the Bob Lucas Stadium this season”.
In a FA Vase tie Portland travelled to the Brickability Stadium to lock horns with Fawley and put 6 goals into the back of their net conceding only once.
Greg Borthwick scored twice for the Blues with a goal each coming from Jamie Cleaver, Josh Camp, Jacob Coombs and Archie Woolford.
