Countryside Matters 52, 22.12.25

In the final Countryside Matters of 2025, presented by Jenny Devitt, Mike Burks of the Gardens Group talks about how important it is to get children interested in gardening, and shows Jenny some of the scaled-down garden tools they sell – and about introducing children to particular plants and garden colours • Farmer George Hosford talks about the price of land, about farmland as an investment (which he’s not happy about, and not alone in not being happy about!) and about corporate farming agencies • And Louise Burks, Mike’s wife, who’s the mastermind behind the Gardens Group’s special Christmas displays, shows Jenny round this year’s Castle Gardens display and talks about how they increasingly try to source as many items as possible either locally, or in Britain, and as environmentally-friendly as possible.
