Countryside Matters 59, 30.03.26

Food resilience and the Feeding Dorset Partnership:   Jon Sloper, CEO of Dorset charity Help and Kindness talks about what the Partnership is and does, and about the importance of growing and distributing more food locally – and how Dorset is something of a country leader in this.

Secondly, I paid a visit to Tamarisk Farm in West Bexington:   one of the very first farms in the country to be certified organic by the Soil Association back in 1960, at a time when ‘organic’ was little known and probably seen as rather eccentric.   Farmer Adam Simon and his daughter Leila told me about the farm, what they grow and do, inside the farm shop in the village of West Bexington where they only sell their own produce.
