Former Dorchester footballer appears in court accused of murder

A former Dorchester Town footballer accused of murder has appeared in court, and a trial date has been set after a man died outside a cocktail bar in Dorset.

Rico Wilson, 35, who resides in Bournemouth, has appeared by video link at Winchester Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on Thursday, April 9.

The former Dorchester Town frontman is charged with the murder of 41-year-old James Blanch from Christchurch after an alleged assault outside MyBar in Charminster Road, Bournemouth, at around 3 am on Monday, April 6.

Wilson was a product of the AFC Bournemouth Academy and also turned out for Wimborne Town and Bournemouth Poppies.
