One of the UK’s largest free folk festivals returns to Weymouth next weekend with brand-new Fringe programme
The free Wessex Folk Festival returns to Weymouth on 30–31 May 2026, bringing live music, Morris dancing, workshops and family entertainment back to the town’s picturesque harbourside for another weekend of celebration.
Now established for more than 20 years and recognised as one of the UK’s largest free folk festivals, the event transforms Weymouth’s South Harbourside and Hope Square with performances across multiple stages, traders, food stalls and traditional dance displays.
This year’s programme includes performances from Granny’s Attic, The Countrymen, Captain’s Beard, Threepenny Bit, and many more.
New for 2026 is the launch of The Fringe, an exciting programme of performances and workshops hosted at Weymouth Drama Club, expanding the festival experience beyond the main harbourside venues.
Visitors can also support the future of the festival by downloading the festival programme in advance, helping keep entry free while allowing audiences to plan performances and favourite acts.
