Major changes are being proposed at Littlemoor Youth Centre, Louviers Road, adding external canopies and internal changes in a six-figure re-make of the ageing and austere building.
A planning application (P/FUL/2026/02367) has been submitted for new doors and windows, an external canopy for the main entrance and a separate canopy for an outside seating area, with an accompanying serving hatch; a 2m-high secure external enclosure, three air-source heat pumps and a new path as well as new landscaping for the site. The centre is already being used as a coombined youth centre and Family Hub for the area.
Plans show activity rooms, space for children’s services, a commercial kitchen, smaller kitchenette and a clinic room.
Said the application: “Refurbishment and partial alteration of an existing building, including internal reconfiguration, new and replacement doors and windows, entrance & café external canopies, 2m high rear secure enclosure, installation of air source heat pumps, and associated landscaping works.”
Weymouth Town Council has welcomed the proposal, telling Dorset Council : “The Town Council strongly supports this application, which is welcome in an area of deprivation, and is a welcome facility for young people. The addition of heat pumps is also positive.”
