Our reporter Idris Martin has revisited the scene of the electricity substation fire next to Weymouth’s Front Skate Park and Sealife Centre, and was impressed with the speed at which the electricity company restored power. He sends this report:
All credit to the Southern Electric Network engineers who had resupplied their consumers in less that 24 hours following the electrical substation fire on Sunday by means of a temporary generator.

The site has been secured. - Picture 3. To the left of the picture the fire damaged low voltage feeder pillar suppling various services to the SEC Consumers. To the right of the picture the High Voltage (11,000 volts) transformer that was filled with oil for insulation and cooling purposes.

The red 11,000 voltage cables that supply the sub station with power have been isolated from the supply elsewhere then cut off and pot ended. - Picture 5.
