The ever-popular Anonymous Festival returns this bank holiday Monday 31 Aug to Borough Gardens in Dorchester. This free family friendly event, now in its 16th year, is literally bursting to the seams with activities for all ages, from craft and circus skills to bouncy castles and bungee trampolines. And not only is the event free to attend, but there is absolutely no charge for any of the activities either! You will have the opportunity to test your staying power on an inflatable surfboard, get your face painted with glitter, or have your photo taken in a vintage horsebox. You will even have the chance to do a masterclass in how to create a special effect wound! And this year we are introducing a Games Court in the tennis courts where you can while away the afternoon playing crazy golf, skittles, cornhole and much more.
And to top it all there will be musical entertainment taking place throughout day by way of 2 stages which will feature some of our most talented young performers, as well as the locally loved Vinyl Van who will be spinning discs in the chill-out corner. We also have a couple of walkabout acts – so you can just chill out and the entertainment will come to you!
There will be a range of affordable, delicious food on offer, including burgers, sausages and chips, Nepalese dumplings, mouth-watering freshly cooked Thai dishes, authentic falafels, and delicious pizza by Basilico. For the sweet of tooth there will also be popcorn, candy floss and ice-cream, as well as bubble tea fruit and milk drinks with boba. The park kiosk will be open for light snacks and drinks. Feel free to bring your own blanket or deckchair and make a day of it.
Event organiser, Emma Scott from Dorchester Town Council says ““A special shout out must go out to our funders this year including Dorchester Town Council, Dorset Council, Dorchester Youth Council, Poundbury Community Trust, the Rotary Club of Dorchester Casterbridge, Magna Housing and the Dorchester Round Table. The event is also supported by local company Jurassic Scaffolding – who are kindly providing the staging this year. Plus thanks to our partners Antix Music who are bringing the PA. We’re really pleased to have raised the money so that we can offer all the activities for free and support our local families and community”.
