Dorchester Town Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former manager and goalkeeping coach Alan Knight MBE on Tuesday.
A hugely respected figure within the game, the Portsmouth legend – who spent 22 years playing at Fratton Park across all four divisions of the football league, making a record-breaking 801 appearances – first arrived at The Avenue as goalkeeping coach in November 2006, where he was also registered as a player and named on the bench on a number of occasions during the 2006/07 season, before later returning to the club and serving as Magpies first team manager for a six-month spell between November 2011 and April 2012 with the club in the Conference South.
Knight has passed away following a battle with prostate cancer, having spoken publicly and worked to raise awareness of the disease since his diagnosis in 2024.
